Internet Streaming Radio News
There's been a lot of
discussion and angst concerning on line broadcasting and
streaming costs/issues.
I ran across this news item:
SMALL
WEBCASTERS GET A BREAK IN ROYALTIES: SoundExchange has offered a
deal to small webcasters to lower the royalty rates set by the
Copyright Royalty Board's decision in March. The offer would
make the rates for streaming sound recordings roughly the same
as those set by the Small Webcaster Settlement Act (SWSA), which
expired in 2005. Today's offer is in response to a request from
a House Judiciary Subcommittee for SoundExchange to initiate
good faith private negotiations with small commercial and
noncommercial webcasters with the shared goal of ensuring their
continued operations and viability

IT TAKES ALL KINDS
PREGNANT WOMEN RECORD:
Over 1,000 pregnant women in South Africa set a new world record
Saturday for the largest gathering of women due to give birth.
The event needed only 100 pregnant women to set the record, but
attracted 1,146 which was verified by independent adjudicators
to enter the Guinness Book of World Records
THE GOD’S ARE SWEATING:
Nepalese citizens are on a pilgrimage to see a sweating
Idol-Hindu God. The sweating is supposedly a a sign of impending

MAMA’S MEAN
A nine year old German girl was mad at her mom because she had
to clean up her room, so she brought in the authorities. She put
up a sign in her window urging passers-by to call police for
help. Pedestrians in the central city of Braunschweig saw the
girl crying in the window, holding up a sign up saying "Help!
Please call the police!" Next to her sat a small boy. Police
showed up quickly. "The room looked like a battlefield," said a
spokesman. "Officers told the girl to tidy her room. When they
came back two hours later to check, it was all cleaned up.
PULL OVER
BUDDY
Here’s a unique twist on the DUI stop. A wheelchair-bound German
stunned police when they pulled him over for using the road and
found he was 10 times over the legal alcohol limit for drivers.
Because the man was technically traveling as a pedestrian, he
could not be charged with a driving offense.
TIME
FOR LIFTOFF
The male impotence drug
Viagra may be useful for treating jet lag as well, according to
Argentine researchers who gave it to hamsters made to feel like
rodent globe-trotters.
Impossible Question?
Q: What do they place in urinals in Holland to help keep them
clean?
A: An etching of a housefly (men target the etching as they use
the urinal, thus keeping the area outside the urinals cleaner)
