YOU THOUGHT THE IRS WAS BAD...
A Canadian Couple lost a $65,000 piece of land that they planned on building a dream home
on because they owed an extra $102 in property taxes. They found out the day before that
the property would be auctioned. Only one person showed up and bid a little over $1,000
for the land. Mr. and Mrs. Pollock plan to sue.
$2 MILLION TRASHED
Tim and Shirley Garret's son tossed a $2 Million winning Snickers wrapper away. They
searched their garbage, then went about enlisting friends to help them search the county
landfill in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. THat's where county officials stepped in saying
that searching the landfill with it's toxic waste would be hazardous, so NO $2 Million.
HOT CHRISTMAS TOY ?
Furbys ! Yes Furbys ! An interactive animatronic pet. The Furbys talk in English and
Furbese (their own language) and gives all kinds of responses including bodily function
noises.
WE'RE EATING BETTER ...KIND OF ..
American's are eating more vegetables. 20% more than they did 20 years ago. That's the
good news. The bad news ? Most of it is French Fries. And the American Cancer Society
doesn't see much of a health benefit in that. They have seen a rise in the following,
which bodes well for our collective health:
20% more veggies
22% more fruit
47% more grains
MONICA WON'T BE ON OPRAH
The talk show queen says she thought she had it wrapped up but then money started to enter
into the equation. Oprah says she doesn't pay for interviews.
THE BOSS IS BEING SUED
Pony Express records is suing Bruce Springsteen because they say that he's using his
influence to scare away distributors from handling an album they want to release. It
contains a number of cuts he recorded prior to his rise to fame. it's called "Before
the fame". (just trying to get some publicity)
THE OFFICIAL CONDOM ?
Yep ! The company given the "official" status by the International Olympic
Committee has announced it will give each participating athlete 3 free condoms per day for
the 17 days of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
