A Welsh man had a few too many New Years eve and thought he'd better apologize for what he doesn't remember. So he took out an ad apologizing. to..among others....the staff of a Cardiff hotel, a man at a fish bar and two passing police officers. The ad, published in the British Times begged forgiveness, which apparently his wife has granted.

BRETT BUTLER COMEBACK?
The Grace Under Fire star who had her show pulled from her two years ago when she had to go into rehab for a painkiller addiciiton is in serious negotiations with her former network to return in a new sitcom.

THE MUMMY 2 The Sequel:
Brendan Fraser and co-star Rachel Weisz have agreed to sign for a sequel to the highly successful film to begin production in May of 2001.

THE WORLD'S FIRST DOT COM TOWN
Halfway Oregon has decided to become the world's first dot-com city. Half.Com town leaders hope that the notoriety will give them an economic boost. Part of the deal does involve about $110,000 in technological Internet expertise and hardware.

LINDA MCCARTNEY TRIBUTE
``A Garland for Linda,'' due for release Feb 7th will be a tribute to Paul McCartney's wife. The ex-Beatle and a number of other musicians will unviel the new CD with all proceeds  going for cancer research.

LETTERMAN HOME
The Late Night host was released from the hospital five days after quintuple by-pass surgery and of course he had to make a quip or two when asked what he had planned: ``to spend the weekend doing some heavy lifting and playing handball.''

ACADEMY AWARDS HONOREE

MUSIC LEGENDS ON "WONDER BOYS" SOUNDTRACK
Neil Young, John Lennon, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan will be on the Wonder Boys soundtrack. Dylan, in fact, contributes FOR tunes to the film from "LA Confidential" director Curtis Hanson. Dylan's "Things Have Changed" has just been released to radio. The film starring Michael Douglas and Tobey Maguire, arrives Feb. 18.

THE $25 MILLION DOLLAR MAN
That's the amount be cited as MEL GIBSON'S SALARY for the Revolutionary War drama The Patriot, expected to march into theaters June 30. "I wish" was his only statement.
