TOUGH TIMES ON "The Beach"
Leonardo DeCaprio's latest film upset environmentalists in Thailand because they say producers damaged the small island where the film was shot. Now some in Thailand's parliament want to have the film pulled from distribution saying it portrays Buddhism in a negative light. Meanwhile travel agents are thrilled in the boost of tourism generated by the thousands seeking a touch of paradise.

KOPPEL IN THE COURT
Ted Kopple will be on Court TV as part of a deal where the networks is teaming with ABC for content. The first project is ''Crime and Punishment: Women in Prison.'' Koppel will report and narrate. Court TV has a similar deal with NBC's Dateline.

NBC RENEWALS
NBC has re-signed  three of it's latest dramas to return next season. `Third Watch,'' ``The West Wing'' and ``Law & Order: Special Victims Unit''

HALLE BERRY'S TROUBLE
The actress who may be charged with felony hit and run charges for a February 23rd accident is being sued by Hetal Raythatha who alleges she ''suffered severe emotional distress ... from being injured and trapped in a smoldering vehicle without receiving assistance from the responsible party,'' the suit said. Berry received 15-20 stitches on her forehead while Raythatha suffered a broken wrist. It was also reported that Berry did report the accident to police albeit after leaving the scene.

KING ON THE WEB
Steven King will become the first major author to release a book entirely over the Internet. Tuesday you'll be able to download "Riding The Bullet" from the Simon and Shuster website. $250 per download.

RODMAN BOOTED
The colorful NBA star was dumped by the Dallas Mavericks just 28 days after being signed. He'll walk away from the deal with about $400,000 for his efforts.
